What is the difference between a company that provides good service and one that provides great service? If you had to narrow it down to one characteristic, it would be communication.

Companies that provide great service clearly communicate what a customer or potential customer should expect when they do business with that company. They leave no doubt in the customer's mind.

Their customers are in the loop all the way. They know if an item is in stock. If it is not in stock when it is expected in. When their order will be shipped. And how.

If there is a problem they are informed. The company takes a proactive role in communicating with the customer. They don't wait for the customer to call them asking where their order is.

mid-sized business owner or a manager, there will be times you

will need to make changes in your organization but may not be

sure how to go about it. Change is hard to implement and even

harder to sustain. Think about all of the people who have

with an exercise program, let alone just starting. If changing

Last month we discussed building credibility and trust at your

lifetime value of each customer, that is, getting your one-time

buyers to be repeat customers. There are many factors that go

Since none of us is running a large company (I assume) and don't

have much of a budget "if any" for customer service, all of the

Ground Rules First, some common sense ground rules for providing

good customer service: 1.The more ways you have to contact you

the more assured the potential and repeat buyer will feel in

When most people think of working from home, they immediately think "freedom". And with that thought follows the thoughts of "freedom to do what I want, when I want", "freedom to set my own schedule", "freedom to sleep in or go have fun when I decide to"... the list goes on.

Once you've started your business though, you'll likely receive an immediate reality check. It doesn't work out quite the way you thought it would.

To some degree, the above comments are true in a home business environment ñ but not always and sometimes not even often. Let's look at each statement and see how reality fits in.

"Freedom to sleep in or go have fun when I decide to"
If you have children, especially early risers or older children who have to get up and ready for school, you'll find that you can't sleep in. I have three school children and my day routinely starts at 6:00 - 6:30am. They get up early on the weekends too, so I rarely sleep past 8 - 9am even on Saturdays and Sundays.

If you have clients, partners or prospects who are in a different time zone, you'll find yourself receiving phone calls at 9am ñ their time ñ even if their time is three hours ahead of yours. This can be avoided to some degree by placing prominent hours of operation and time zone notices on your sales materials, but not everyone will see those. The easiest way to avoid this is to simply turn off your office phone during personal hours. If you do though, make sure you remember to turn it back on when you start work each day and check your voice mail regularly.

Internet marketing, a lot of the time really is hit and miss. Always keep in mind that when you promote your site you are, in effect trying to get the word out to the whole world. Not an easy task! How can there NOT be variables when you are advertising to billions? It isn't always where you advertise that makes the difference; it's HOW.

First and foremost, it is SO important to have effective ad copy. Without it, you truly are wasting your time and money. Along with effective ads, it's imperative that you have variety! Don't advertise all over the place with the same ad. The surfer of today seems to get bored very quickly, so it's important to pique their curiosity as often as possible.

Rotate your ads - this means, that if you post to ffa.net with Ad A on Monday, you will post to that site with Ad B on Tuesday. And track your ads so you know which ones are getting the most clicks. Once you know this, you can scratch the less-effective ads off your list, and write new and improved versions.

The time of day you submit can also make a difference. You have to test/track this as well. Try different times of the day, different days of the week, and different ads on each site. See how your ads do when you advertise once a week, twice a week or every day. It's a lot of work!
